  • official + celebration

it is official. Fred Finch called me today and said they hired someone else. therefore it is official that i will be working at the job i told you about yesterday. i gots to go get first aid and CPR certified, get ANOTHER TB test, and find my social security card. gonna start training on 12/14

Mr Cat said we should celebrate and offered to take me out. weirdest thing--i am so used to being frugal and eating at home now that i didnt feeling like going out to eat! that's just weird. eating out was like my top 5 favorite thing to do in the world. in fact it was like the #1 thing i loved to do. but it just costs so much, my cheap instincts deter me from enjoying it anymore. plus the fact that i want to lost weight so eating out is counterproductive.

this is how i celebrated: since i had eggs, ham, and an avocado at home, i bought shallots, chedar, and a tomato and i made an omlette for dinner. then i ate a ton of mint M&Ms while watching TV

    that was my celebration

there was also a celebration gift i got myself. i bought a used keyboard stand for my electric piano. i have been waiting to get one for SO LONG. not the X shaped stands--i am talking about the custom stand for my model. i don't get why anyone would want an X stand. first of all the X prevents you from sitting close cuz you can't tuck your knees under the keyboard. second of all, it is not hard to find milk crates or boxes to hold up your keyboard to the right height. the only real use for the X stands are for traveling and performing. if the keyboard stays at home, the X stand makes so sense to me AT ALL

today when i went to go get my employment offer, i met my boss' boss; kitten--that's right, she brought her kitten to work. she refered to it as both a "he" and a "she" so i am confused. maybe its a tranny cat. (hehehheee) but the kitten was so cute. it looked just like a fluffier baby Oryan. it tired to run out of my boss' boss' office and i had to catch it. it was so soft and it didnt claw me when i picked it up. it is a tuff of fur.

that reminds me of an episode of South Park that i just saw--the epic three part story of monster guinea pigs taking over the world. i laughed so hard when the bad guy said "you've seen guinea-bees and guinea-saurus-rex, but i am something much more evil" and he turned into a guinea-pirate. dude, they used a ton of guinea pigs in costumes. "it's a guinea bear" "no it's not, it's a guinea-mouse! you idiot!" LOL!!!!!!

i also thouroughly enjoyed the episode about Wendy beating up Cartman. i also laughed very very hard when Cartman begged for mercy and ate his underwear.

  • invited to YouTube partnership

almost forgot to tell you, my Cuttlefish Are Awesome video has got me invited to YouTube partnership!

ROFLOL! this makes me seriously think about making actually interesting/informative videos

but of course, footage of kendra and me talking about cuttlefish is priceless

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3TQ48sWgcY

maybe i should take kendra to Monterey Bay and make a whole series of awesome sea creatures

i am also considering shooting a series on psychology (like me teaching Psychology 101)

  • JOB OFFER!!!!!!

i was offered a job today. it's not the first choice but i do want to work with that population a lot

partially why i got the job is cuz i said "hella" when i was trying to prove i wasn't boring, the supervisor said she is very impressed that i used the word "hella" when i was explaining "im not hella upbeat but i have a good sense of humor". also seemed that i got the job due to my claim of being humorous. it was the second interview, they were concerned that i looked too professional .... see, that's the kind of boss you want to work for--you get rewarded for being fun (im joking, i actually think its very weird) ... and yes, i said "hella" on purpose to prove that i wasn't being professional and it worked. i cannot believe it

well good for me. the other co-worker that sat in for the second interview thought that i was less experienced and she subtly talked down to me, as she thought i was a noob. the next time i see her i got to tell her how many hours i have so she doesn't think im ignorant. even the supervisor said "you just met Elvina, you don't know that she is at the beginning of collecting hours"

today they basically wanted to know who i am as a person. they asked questions like "what are your gifts/skills/talents?" and they were concerned if i could joke or not. i guess that's not a bad thing. i think they have a sense of how i am and what im bringing to the table. the supervisor seems very accepting and forgiving. she also work with my schedule request and gave me a nice schedule

i called the job that i wanted more to ask if i have a shot there. i need to know before i make my official decision.

by the way, this is an awesome game that exercises your brain:

i am uber addicted to drop-a-block. i play it instead of Maple now

  • Left 4 Dead 2--Bridge Over Trebled Slaughter!!!

after several tries and lots of sweat, we finally got the Bridge Over Trebled Slaughter achievement!

it requires finishing the bridge stage within 3 minutes, which invloves running through a damaged, twisted bridge (much like the Bay Bridge) that is covered with wrecked cars and zombies. it finally worked when we followed advice on YouTube to kill the computers and the luck of not running into snafus.

oh and by the way we are falling in love with the melee weapons in L4D2. L4D didn't have melee weapons and you could only punch the zombies, but in L4D2 you get to use things like iron skillets, axes, machetes, and my favorite is the guitar. the melee weapons are really powerful, on easy mode you can one hit kill the special infected. apparently you can deal more damage to the tank with a skillet than a shot gun!
